With the holidays just around the corner travel testing guidelines are critical, airlines will be packed with people trying to visit one loved one or the other. And in a bid to curb the spread of the COVID-19 and give travelers rest of mind, some airlines have agreed that whoever plans to travel should get tested and show proof of being negative before you’re allowed to travel.
This also gives the other passengers onboard rest of mind that they’re not at risk of contracting the virus.
According to USAToday, it is not mandatory to get tested on-site, but testing sites are available. You can do a travel test at a testing sites near you or the at-home options, which would require you to do it at least 10 days in advance and submit a sample 72 hours before you trip for you to get the go-ahead. Although the time to submit your samples vary according to location. Hawaiian said advanced tests are expected within 36 hours, while Day of travel said 12 hours and American 48 hours.
Travel Testing : Timing Your COVID Test
Timing your COVID travel tests can be quite tricky because if you do your tests too early, you risk contracting it again and invalidating your test result. If it’s too late, the test results might come out too late, which may delay your trip.
Getting a negative result may not tell the whole story. Because it usually takes 2-14 days before the infectious particles start to show. What happens when you’ve been infected but the tests don’t show it yet? This is why you should do multiple tests to be sure.
